The Shift

It's likely that every one of us has something that we'd like to change as pertains to our life: its quality, its character, its day-to-day feel.

Before we can change anything, we must first be open to The Shift. This is the in between time or bridge, if you will, between what IS and what WILL BE.

When I feel the coming of change (whether I like it or not) or want to welcome change in, I use a fast or body cleanse as a way of living in The Shift. Fasting or cleansing creates physical, tangible changes that can be used as symbols or guidestones for other shifting taking place outside of your the body itself.

For example, inherent to fasting or cleansing is the "letting go" of accumulated waste and toxins in the body. Is there one of us who can not think of accumulations of other sorts that we must first acknowledge and then, let go?

In the body, the accumulation may show up as weight in key areas of the body or distributed throughout. It may appear as a general sluggishness and lack of energy and vitality. Perhaps what needs to be let go physically shows up as skin that lacks a brightness or loss of firmness.

In the home, clutter and disorder may be the sign that a cleanse is needed. Or the home may lack warmth and bright energy. You may look at your environment and feel dragged down by it. A key piece of furniture may feel more like a burden than a blessing.

Depression may signify the need for spiritual, mental, and emotional cleansing. Are you reluctant to get out of the bed in the morning?  Find your Self using words such as "hate" or phrases like "can't stand" to describe your work, your home, your relationship?Or worse, are these the words you use to describe your Self? Your life?

Let's start in the body. Let's cleanse it first and get ourselves open to make The Shift to full and lasting change.

More to come.....

All the best,

Ann

Master Cleanse Supply List

What you'll need for the cleanse is very simple:

1. Distilled water

2. Whole organic lemons

3. Organic Grade B maple syrup

4. Cayenne powder

5. Raw salad/dressing ingredients of your choice.

6. Sea Salt

7. Smooth Move Tea

8. Determination!

Click here to read the Master Cleanse directions, recipe, etc. Read this to understand my reasons for the modified version and see what I like in my salads. There is a link to the pdf of the original text as well. I'm a tactile person so if you find a copy, I'd pick it up. I make the lemonade to taste and prepare enough for the day in the morning. Sticking a fork in the lemons and twisting really gets the juice out of there. Feel free to use a citrus juicer as well. You might want to use a glass suntea pitcher with a spigot in order to make dispensing easier for yourself. Just pop it on your desk or work area. A thermos would be fine as well. There's no ONE way to do this. Intuit your proper path. During the modified phase, I eat my salad in the evening around 6 or 7. You might want to do it for lunch. It's entirely up to you. I would suggest that you hold as closely to the ingredients as possible. However, before you ask a question, attempt to answer it yourself. For example, some find that the cayenne has a bit too much kick. Your intuition might direct you to limit or eliminate it. That is fine. Some would have you believe that if you don't follow the directions TO THE LETTER, you won't reap the benefits. Really think about that. The author of The Master Cleanse is human just like you. Intuit your needs and move from there.

One extra you might consider is a Fasting tea. I like the one offered by Yogi teas. Also, don't abandon your water drinking. I drink lots of distilled in addition to the lemonade.

While you're fasting/cleansing, you may want to:

1. Journal

2. Take walks

3. Practice mindful breathing

4. Sweat in the sauna/steam room

5. Deepen your prayer/meditation practice

6. Invest time in your passions (aka. hobbies)

7. Recieve a full-body massage

8. Start a garden (grown Knockout Roses, maybe?)

9. Write letters to loved ones and MAIL them.

10. Take baths and exfoliate

11. Read spirit healing literature

12. Take a break from the net (HA!)

13. Exercise (Yes, you'll likely have that much energy)

14. Fast on silence for a few hours (or even a day or two) to purify your tongue

15. Limit or eliminate "negative speak" as much as possible

16. Send out forgiveness and release your Self from past hurts

17. Declutter and adorn your home.

18. Turn off the television for a day and see how that feels

19. Steam your face over a bowl of hot water and essential oils (intuit your choices)

20. Take a day trip alone (or with a loved one)

21. Buy a pretty outfit that is outside your comfort zone.

22. Stand naked before the mirror and declare ALOUD your beauty. Try saying, "My hair is as the Creator designed it: beautiful." And then move to each part from there. Say this with a smile on your face. You are sending your entire being a message. Feel good so that your being will feel good as well. Love that hard to love area a lot. :)

23. GIVE a massage.

24. Get a pedicure or therapeutic foot bath.

25. Try dry brushing your skin.

26. Practice deeper listening (refrain from forming a response while listening. JUST listen.)

27. Wake up earlier and do something that will make you feel great. Set the tone for the day. Start with 10-15 minutes earlier and then increase as needed.

28. When's the last time you road a bike? Skated?

29. Volunteer some time at a soup kitchen.

30. Begin to learn a new skill. (Knit, soapmaking, a language....)

Do I need to go on? The possibilities are endless. I enjoy my cleanses. If it is unpleasant then it is not a worthy use of your time. The cleanse is not a punishment, it's a choice.

All the best,

Ann
